Why is nursery important ?
Nursery is an important time in your child's life . It is a time when they become more independent and begin to make their own choices . They may make a special friend , excel at a particular subject or discover they can do something that they thought they couldn't ! It is an exciting start to their preschool years which in turn leads them onto a good start at full time school .
How do we help with the transistion from home to nursery ?
To help with this transition at Stanley Grove we offer a First Steps programme for all new pupils starting in nursery . These sessions allow you and your child to experience preschool activities , meet the staff and visit the nursery setting prior to starting .
For children already in nursery we have daily Stay and Play sessions . These sessions give parents and carers quality time to play with their child , talk to the teacher and build relationships with other adults .
Do you offer all day places ?
We offer the chance for children to stay for lunch or extra regular sessions at an additional cost to parents as well as the extra 30 hours Government scheme. For more information please contact the school office.
Assessment and Progress
All children’s progress is assessed termly from the time they start school. Informal discussions during Stay and Play time or an appointment with the class teacher will provide the opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress or to raise any concerns. Once children enter full-time education in Reception their progress is shared with parents at consultation evenings.
