History

At Stanley Grove Academy we believe that learning about the past helps children to better understand the world they live in today. Across school, pupils explore a wide range of historical periods, significant events and influential people - from castles, the Great Fire of London and Ancient Greece to the Tudors, World War II and Ancient Egypt.

Our history curriculum is carefully planned to build knowledge year by year while developing key historical skills such as chronology, using historical sources, comparing time periods and understanding cause and consequence. Children learn about society, legacy, government, monarchy and the role of women throughout history, helping them to make meaningful connections across different eras.

Through hands-on experiences, artefacts, timelines, local history and engaging lessons, we encourage curiosity, critical thinking and a love of learning about the past. Our aim is for every child to leave Stanley Grove Academy with a strong understanding of history and how it continues to shape our lives today.
