PE

At Stanley Grove Academy we believe that physical education plays a vital role in developing healthy, active and confident children. Our curriculum supports pupils to enjoy physical activity, build coordination and fitness, and understand the importance of movement for their physical and mental wellbeing.

Across school, pupils develop skills through a range of activities including games, dance, gymnastics, athletics and outdoor adventurous activities. Children learn to run, jump, throw, catch, apply tactics, work as part of a team and build control, agility and balance. They also learn to cooperate, compete fairly and motivate themselves and others.

Our curriculum builds progressively, revisiting and developing core skills. As pupils move through school, they apply skills in increasingly complex game situations, explore choreography and performance and develop stamina, resilience and tactical awareness.

Through active participation, structured skill development and meaningful competition, we encourage pupils to enjoy sport, value teamwork and embrace challenge. Our aim is for every child to leave Stanley Grove Academy with strong fundamental movement skills, positive attitudes towards physical activity and the confidence to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
