At Stanley Grove, we actively promote British Values to prepare our pupils for life in modern Britain. Through our curriculum, assemblies and everyday school life, children learn about democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Pupils are encouraged to share their views and opinions in a respectful way through class discussions, assemblies and pupil voice opportunities, helping them to understand the importance of listening to others and valuing different perspectives. Clear school rules and consistent expectations support children in understanding right from wrong, taking responsibility for their actions and recognising how rules help to keep everyone safe and included.
Individual liberty is promoted by encouraging children to develop confidence, self-belief and independence in their learning, while mutual respect and tolerance are embedded through assemblies, high-quality texts and celebrations of different cultures, faiths and backgrounds. Across the curriculum, children learn to express themselves clearly and thoughtfully, showing pride in their work and respect for others. By embedding British Values across the school, we help children to develop the skills, attitudes and understanding needed to become confident, responsible and respectful members of society.
